Isaac Howard

Isaac looks forward to making pottery for the Empty Bowls project every year as a chance to do several things. "Donating to a cause that is very much needed in the community is a large part of the reason to make the work, as well as using the Empty Bowls project as an opportunity to explore shapes and textures in my designs, and to share the creative spark that I try to bring to my work. To me the act of making pottery is to make tools to enhance the pleasure of living. I try to design pottery that performs its given function (to contain, to serve, to display), feels good to the hand that uses it, and is fun to look at and think about. To this end I try to draw inspiration from nature, architecture, and the history of ceramics itself, and if you use your imagination you can see these things too."
