With so much beauty surrounding our first little cabin in Alaska, I began painting simply to express my joy in it all.  Soon I found I was getting great joy from doing the painting!  Caring for my family, the garden, the animals, teaching school, running a landscaping business, and the many, many challenges and changes in my life left little time for expression in art.  But all of these experiences, at the same time were filling my eyes and memory with more amazing scenes, that now in retirement, I have time to explore through the end of my brush.
