Gabriel Newton
Gabriel Newton's current work depicts the sentience of animals and their relationship to mysticism. His paintings focus on animals residing in and around the sea because of their mysterious nature and ability to inspire reverence. He uses found wood that has previously served some human purpose and ended up back in the sea where the wind and waves have subsequently turned it into a larger version of sea glass. He uses a dichromatic palette of acrylic paints to suggest the animal's spirit and to highlight the texture and subtle color variations in the wood.
